Basis for understanding: We are all divinely created, directed and inspired to be creative, expressive and make connections via shared sensations (feelings/emotions). Since the dawn of time and throughout human evolution rhythm has accompanied, if not conducted, all our experiences (brain waves /synapses; heart beat; breath) in response to stimuli. Intuitively (childlike) we explore the bounds of human experience through rhythm play (singing, jumping, whirling, laughing, crying). Drumming, dance and vocalization (saying mantras, chanting, singing) are primary expressions that allow us to experience 1) Involution (turning inward; the path of the soul to the self) and 2) evolution (creative expressions/ reflections of the inner self. Intuitively (think Dr. James Wanless’ ABC’s from the last Your Soul Cafe) we utilize these practices to become more aware of our inner rhythms; cultivate belief in our divine nature to be more authentically creative; courageously step towards more authentic experiences and relationships via creative expressions.
Our evening’s goals are to: 1) gain perspective on what rhythm and rhythm making are all about; 2) how to access, express/cultivate meaningful rhythmic practice; and 3) identify ways in which we access it in every day life such that we align with our own signature (authentic) rhythms and experience more freedom of expression.
Session I: WHAT? Sacred Rhythms from the Forest (interactive performance). Rhythmic music to inspire the senses and stir the soul; heaven and earth; rooted deep and expansive at the same time. Crafted selections to inspire core elements of self / group expression through drumming, vocalizing, and movement.
Break for a Delicious Coffee/Tea & Dessert Bar
Session II: NOW WHAT? In small groups, facilitate self- inventories of personal rhythms and through use of drums/percussion/artistic expression (face painting for further self- identification or spirit personification) make personal and group explorations in co-creating rhythmic expression.
Session III: SO WHAT? Entire group discussion re: Cultivating daily rhythmic awareness/practice/expression to align with our authentic nature and experience more harmonious relationships. What will it look/sound/feel like? What impact will this have in one’s daily life experiences. What are some intentions that you might be set?
